It also tried to find which reasons of interruption and of overlap occurred the most. The main theory of turn-taking was Sacks? theory (1974). This research was a descriptive qualitative research. The writer got the data from the utterances in the conversations of the four main African American characters in the movie that the writer transcribed herself. In her analysis, the writer classified the kinds of turn-taking irregularities, that is, interruption and overlap. Then, she determined the reasons of each. In her findings, the writer found that the four African American characters in the movie did turn-taking irregularities, that is, interruption and overlap and tended to overlap others. They tended to overlap others because they did not want to wait for others to finish their talk. The writer also found the reasons of interruption and of overlap in the conversation in the movie. The reasons of interruption that occurred in the conversation are clarification, rejection, completion, and showing annoyance with the reasons of clarification, completion, and showing annoyance occurred the most. The reasons of overlap that occurred in the conversation are clarification, asking for help, and rejection with clarification occurred the most. However, there were some reasons of interruption , that was, asking for help, correction and urgency and of overlap, that was, correction, completion, showing annoyance and urgency that did not occur in the conversation. Finally, the writer concluded that the four main African American characters in the movie do not do the turn-taking properly where one has to wait for the speaker to finish his/her talk. Their tendency to do the turn-taking improperly leads them to the interruption and overlap with some reasons. A speaker who frequently gets interrupted might feel offended and it might disturb the interaction between the speaker with his interlocutor. There are two types of interruption which consists of the interruption itself and the overlap. The classification of interruption is based on the definition of the interruption from Zimmerman and West (1975). Interruption and overlap is a violation toward the general rule of conversation. It is said that there is only one and not more than one person who speaks in a conversation. The writer believed that interruption and overlap caused by a certain reason. The writer tried to find the type of turn taking irregularities that were produced the most frequently in the conversation by the two hosts and also by the two hosts and the guests in the Ceriwis talk show. Besides, the writer tried to find the reasons of each type of turn-taking irregularities. The writer used the theory of Zimmerman and West (1975), Wardaugh (1985), and Tannen (1991). This research used descriptive qualitative approach. In her analysis, the writer divided it into two main parts; that is the analysis of interruption and the analysis of overlap. In the analysis of interruption, the writer found that the number of interruptions in the conversations were higher than the number of overlaps; both in the conversation produced by the two hosts also by the two hosts and the guests. The number of interruptions produced by the two hosts were higher than by the two hosts and the guests. The writer also found the reasons of interruption, that is asking for help, breaking up, completing, correcting, disagreeing, seeking clarification and showing agreement. In the analysis of overlap, the writer found that the frequency of overlaps produced by the two hosts was higher than the overlaps produced by the hosts and the guests. The writer also found the reasons of overlap. Those reasons were the same as the reasons of interruption. The reason of interruptions that were produced the most frequently in the conversation was completing and the reason of overlaps produced the most frequently produced was showing agreement. The writer concluded that the interruptions and overlaps are most frequently produced by the two hosts, this condition happens because the two hosts have to maintain the time in that show. This reality show was divided into two kinds of situation, that is, informal and formal. The writer tried to investigate the interruption and overlap that occurred in the conversation of the show based on each situation. The main theories were from Zimmerman and West (1975), Wardhaugh (1985), and Tannen (1990). This research was a descriptive qualitative research. The writer got the data from the utterances from 10 episodes of the show that she transcribed herself. Moreover, she found the same reasons of interruption and overlap, such as seeking clarification, correcting, rejecting, completing, showing annoyance and urgency. There were several reasons that could not be included into Wardhaugh?s theory and the writer decided to include them into other reasons. The other reasons that occurred were giving suggestion, showing agreement, and concluding. The most frequent reason of interruption among the candidates in informal situation was completing while clarification was found mostly in formal situation. While the reason of overlap that occurred most frequently in formal situation was correcting, and in informal situation rejecting was the most frequent one.
