Kecenderungan gaya interior Gereja Katolik di Surabaya

Periode pembangunan yang berbeda dari gereja Kelahiran Santa Perawan Maria dan gereja Hati Kudus Yesus dengan gereja Santa Maria Tak Bercela memberikan sentuhan gaya yang berbeda pula pada ketiga gereja tersebut. Berangkat dari fakta tersebut, penulis mengangkat pembahasan mengenai kecenderungan gaya ketiga gereja Katolik di Surabaya tersebut. Untuk mengetahui kecenderungan gaya yang ada, penulis menggunakan landasan teori gaya dari berbagai zaman serta sejarah arsitektur yang mengupas sejarah gaya bangunan beserta karakteristik dan perkembangannya dari zaman ke zaman. Dengan menggunakan landasan teori inilah, penulis mulai melakukan pembahasan terhadap ketiga gereja tersebut dengan fokus penelitian: elemen pembentuk interior (plafon, kolom, dan jendela) serta elemen pengisi interior (meja altar, gong, jalan salib, railing tangga). Dari pembahasan inilah, akhirnya ditarik kesimpulan yang menjawab rumusan masalah yang ada, yaitu elemen pembentuk interior ketiga gereja Katolik tersebut cenderung mengandung unsur gaya Gothic dengan pengaruh gaya arsitektur Kolonial Belanda sedangkan elemen pengisi interior cenderung mengandung unsur gaya Modern dengan pengaruh lokal Jawa.

Analisa differential threshold pada beberapa kelompok konsumen di Surabaya antara rasa, bentuk, dan nama produk es krim conello dari walls dengan es krim concerto dari campina

Differential threshold merupakan ambang perbedaan. Kami mengadakan penelitian differential threshold pada es krim Conello dari Walls dan es krim Concerto dari Campina ditinjau dari rasa, bentuk, dan nama produk. Karena kedua es krim tersebut memiliki rasa yang hampir sama dimana dalam produk tersebut terdapat dua macam variasi rasa dengan ditaburi kacang pada permukaannya. Bentuk es krim Conello dan Concerto hampir serupa, dimana sama-sama berupa cone dengan warna es krim berselang-seling, seperti coklat dan putih. Dan dari segi namapun hampir serupa yaitu Conello dan Concerto. Hal inilah yang menyebabkan terjadinya ambang perbedaan di antara kedua produk tersebut. Kelompok konsumen es krim Conello dan Concerto di Surabaya terdiri dari usia, jenis kelamin, status, pekerjaan, dan pendapatan. Melalui penelitian ini, dapat diketahui ada tidaknya differential threshold terhadap kedua es krim tersebut. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif komparatif dengan menggunakan alat analisa ANOVA. Populasi yang diambil adalah konsumen Conello dan Concerto di Surabaya dengan sampel sebanyak 300 responden yang dilakukan dengan menyebarkan kuesioner. Hasil yang diperoleh dari penelitian adalah tingkat ambang perbedaan es krim Conello dan Concerto yang ditinjau dari rasa, bentuk, dan nama produk adalah rendah, sehingga dapat diambil kesimpulan bahwa konsumen di Surabaya kurang sensitif terhadap perbedaan kedua es krim tersebut.

Functional stylistics in cigarette advertisements slogans

Cigarette advertisements have been a great controversy among the advertisers and the governments. As governments put warnings of the health hazard in the cigarette advertisements, the advertisers, thus, should create effective advertisements by using slogans. In order to create good slogans, the advertisers needs to use certain style that would make the slogans catchy, easy to understand, and easy to repeat (Kirkpatrick, 1964). Stylistics forms are used to serve this purpose, and the devices such as the sound pattern, lexical selection, and imagery are functioned in the slogans. As stylistics is the product of abstraction (Spencer, 1964:59), thus, the stylistics theory used are those by Wellek and Warren(1965), Short (1996), and Ullman ( 1973). For the related theories, this study uses the review of theories by Wells, Burnett and Moriarty (2000), Russel and Lane(l999), and by Kirkpatrick (1964) for the principles of slogans in advertisements. Qualitative approach is used in this study to describe the linguistics phenomenon in the cigarette advertisements slogans as it investigates the interesting part of the making process of the slogans as well as the slogans resulted from it. From the analysis of functional stylistics, the stylistics forms are used well in the slogans as they are influenced greatly by the style-forming factors, such as the application of principles of advertisements, language and slogans, and other factors discovered in the analysis, such as the use of appeals, the use of symbolic characters, and the claim of certain qualities of the cigarette.

A study of the javanese speech levels used in the gambar berguna-guna episode of ketoprak humor

This thesis is about a linguistic phenomenon in one of the popular humorous entertainment programs, ‘Ketoprak Humor??, in RCTI as one of the Indonesian private television channels. Based on the conversations that appear in ‘Ketoprak Humor’, I find that the players use Javanese speech levels in delivering the story and according to the theories, there are some factors that may influence the use of a particular level. Therefore this study is an attempt to analyze the use of Javanese speech level and the influence of social rules, i.e. social factors and social dimensions on the choice of the Javanese speech levels in the episode of Ketoprak Humor entitled “Gambar Berguna-guna” (The Magical Picture). Then, to collect the data, 1 record one episode of “Ketoprak Humor” randomly. 1 transcribe and put numbers on Javanese utterances along with the context, and classify them based on Poedjosoedarmo?s theory of Javanese speech levels. I put into calculation table to find out the most commonly speech level has been used by the players. After that, I analyze the categorization of the level by giving representative examples. In addition, I analyze each level based on Holmes? theory about social factors and social dimensions to find out the rule of usage of each level that has been used in the episode of Ketoprak humor. After analyzing the data, I find out that the conversations which are produced in “Ketoprak Humor“ are dominated by the use of Ngoko style. However, higher styles such as Madya and Krama also appear in the conversations to show respect or politeness toward the elder or,somebody who has a very high status or to create more serious atmosphere of conversations about a particular problem. In addition, I find out that in the episode of Ketoprak Humor entitled Gambar Berguna-Guna, Ngoko speech level can be used by participants who have the same social status and intimate relationship, people of different social status with intimate or non intimate relationship, in both formal and informal setting, in informal topic, and for affective function. In addition, Madya speech level can be used by participants of the same social status who have intimate relationship, participants of different social status who have close or not close relationship, in both formal and informal setting, in informal topic, and for affective function. Last, Krama speech level in the episode of “Gambar Berguna-Guna” is used by participants who have different social status but intimate relationship, in formal place, in informal topic, and for affective function. It is obvious that there are some occasions whereby the rules of usage according Poedjosoedarmo?s theory are not fully followed due to the specific demand of the stage. Thus, they may use level that makes them easiest in expressing the idea and to be enjoyed fully by the audience.
